Hilum is the
region which is located in the central or the medial part of
lungs.
The three
‘tubes/structures’ entering and exiting the hilum of the lung
are:
- Bronchus
- Arteries
(Bronchial artery and pulmonary arter)
- Veins (Bronchial
vein and pulmonary vein)
Tubes is afferent to the
lungs:
- Bronchus: Is the
air passage which conducts the air in (afferent) and out (efferent)
of the lungs through hilum.
- Blood vessel which is afferent to
lungs is bronchial artery (supplies oxygenated
blood to bronchi and connective tissues of lungs).
- Blood vessel which is afferent to
lungs is pulmonary artery (brings deoxygenated
blood to the lungs from the heart) and enters lungs through
hilum.
Tubes are efferent to the
lungs:
- Bronchus: Is the
air passage which conducts the air in (afferent) and out (efferent)
of the lungs through hilum.
- Blood vessel which is efferent to
lungs is bronchial vein (drains deoxygenated blood
from bronchi and connective tissues of lungs).
- Blood vessel which is efferent to
lungs is pulmonary vein (which takes oxygenated
blood from the lungs to the heart) and leaves lungs through
hilum.
