Would an allele at 10% frequency have a higher probability of reaching fixation in a small population or a large population? Or the same probability in either population? If the allele were to go to fixation, would you expect it to reach fixation faster in the smaller population or the larger one? Why?
An allele at 10% frequency have a higher probability of reaching fixation in a small population size as compared to large population size.
Because in small population size there is found predominant genetic effect as compared to last population size. Genetic drift is the random fixation of allele in a population. It occurs due to sampling effect. The sampling affected more pronounced in small population size as compared to large population size.
The fixation for faster in the smallest population as compared to larger population. This is happened because of genetic drift which is found more predominantly in small population size.
