In survey research error can be defined as any difference between the average values that were obtained through a study and true average values of the population being targeted .simply error describe how much results of a study missed the mark by encompassing all .for eg. Your study shows 25 % people's favourite ice cream is chocolate flavour but in actually chocolate is 30 % people's favourite .The differnce could be from a whole range of different biased errors but total level of error in your study would be 5 %.

Bias refers as a only to error that is systematic in nature .Research is bias when it is gathered in way that makes the data value systematically different from true value of the population of interest . There are several types of bias including research bias ,survey bias , respondent bias ,non response bias whether it is in the selection process the way questions are written or the respondent desire to answer in a certain way. Bias can be found on almost anywhere.

The error which are non systematic in nature known as random sampling error . Due to this sample being an imperfect representation of the population of interest . Unfortunately no matter how carefully you select your sample or how many people complete your survey or how many people there will always be a percentage of error that has nothing to do with bias.this is unavoidable in world of probability because as long as your survey is not a census..

Sampling error can be easily measured through the use of Statistics . whenever a researcher conducts a probability survey they must include a margin of error and confidence level .this allows any person to understand just how much effect random sampling error could have on a study results.

Bias on other hand can not be measured using Statistics due to the fact that it comes from the research process itself because of its systematic nature bias slants the data in an artificial direction that will provide false information to the researcher for his reason eliminating bias should be the number one priority of all researcher .

1 . Confidence Interval and Sampling Error: You decide to conduct a poll of students in order to determine the percentage of students (p) who agree with the statement “Hot dogs are one of my favorite foods”. In your poll, you find that 85 out of 100 students agree. a) Compute a 95% confidence interval for p. b) You wish to ensure that the margin of error is no larger than 2.5%.
