Write a 2-3 page paper about a legal topic that we have covered in the class and should contain your own thoughts & analysis and should use facts or real-life situations to illustrate your point. Simply stating the law or repeating what is in the book will not get you any extra credit.
I encourage you to run your proposed topic by me before you do your paper, but you do not have to. Please note that it is your job to think of a topic – I will not provide you with ideas.
Past topics have included: 1. Safety Issues & Potential Liability in my Workplace, 2. My Right To Sue As A Third Party Who Received an Assignment of Rights Under A Roofing Contract, 3. Legal Issues I Face As I Prepare to Start A Small Business Out of My Home, and 4. My Remedies When My Employee Breaches His Employment Contract by Using My Trade Secrets Against Me.
Employee and employer responsibility for safety at workplace will be tackled here.
It is important to focus on health and safety management which is unbiased and it covers the importance of employees and a typical workplace safety. Along with the liabilities the employers have towards maintaining safety for the workers. It is also essential to focus on the responsibilities towards workplace safety for both the employees and the employers.
It is necessary to discuss the standards with health and safety manager along with relevant issues that are related to the workplace conditions and certification action. Another important part relates to guidelines and the standards information which needs to be taken into account for
Occupational Safety & Health Administration. It is necessary that the employers perform the responsibilities of informing regarding the hazards and performing safety job training,
precautionary labels, emergency alarms, color codes, chemical information sheets etc. Another important aspect is related to illness which affects the employees and the work area. It is vital that the employees submit their medical history so it becomes handy for the employers whenever needed.
It is also essential to focus on the tests in the workplace for ensuring that OSHA standards are followed and the health authorities are informed regarding any issues that might arise during this process. Updating bulletins regarding the citations, injuries and records of illness are important. The employees need to review and pay attention to the requirements presented by the employers. The employers are liable to avoid any retaliation or discriminate the employees. The employees have the right to protest against this and compliance to the health and safety manager to begin with.
It is the responsibility for the employees to pay attention that the company they engage with is properly inspected according to health standards and important questions regarding safety and health need to be asked.
