Given the following set of data, please choose the correct level of measurement: Number of days absent from work for a group of employees (0, 2, 4, 4, 7)
Nominal
Ratio
Ordinal
Nominal scale
Nominal scale basically used for categories the data.for EXAMPLE Gender, favorite color etc. So our data is not suitable for Nominal scale.Generally It is used for qualitative data but our data is quantitative.
Ordinal Scale
The items in this scale are ordered, ranging from least to most satisfied. Unlike nominal scales, ordinal scales allow comparisons of the degree to which two subjects possess the dependent variable. For example, our satisfaction ordering makes it meaningful to assert that one person is more satisfied than another with their microwave ovens. Such an assertion reflects the first person's use of a verbal label that comes later in the list than the label chosen by the second person. so for our data this scale is more appropriate than nominal scale.
Ratio Scale
This scale of measurement is more informative than above two.Like a nominal scale, it provides a name or category for each object . Like an ordinal scale, the objects are ordered (in terms of the ordering of the numbers). It is generally used for quantitative data.so in our data we can order the data (according to no of days of absent). we can also quantify our data (as o of days of absent like 0,2,7 etc). so This scale is most appropriate for our data. So we will use ratio scale.
