Compare the life cycle of Eimeria tenella with that of Monocystis lumbrici.
Eimeria tenella have monogenetic life cycle, the life cycle which involves only a single host. The Different stages of its life cycle is under two phases, asexual cycle or schizogony and sexual cycle involving gametogony. Most of the life cycle is intracellular. It is one of seven protozoan parasites that cause avian coccidiosis in poultry.
Monocystis has a monogenetic life cycle whch we know means it involves only a single host and no requirement of seconday host which is in the cases of digenetic parasites. The single host of monocystis is the earthworm. All the stages of the life cycle is haploid except for the zygote. The picture given below shows the life cycle.
