What effect does all three of the following variables have on yeast fermentation?
a) temperature
b) food scarcity
c) pH
Please explain all three, thanks,
have on yeas
The yeast fermentation is a type of anaerobic respiration, which causes break down of the carbohydrate in absence of oxygen this results production of ethanol and carbon dioxide.
There are many variable factors which influences the process of fermentation by yeast-
(a) Temperature: The temperature is important factor for yeast fermentation process, when the temperature increases the rate of fermentation also increases, but when the temperature exceeds beyond the optimum temperature the rate of fermentation start to decrease as the temperature increases.
(b) Food scarcity: The availability of food is the most imporatnt key product for for yast fermentation, because if the food (carbohydrate) is not available then the yeast will not get their food to fermentate so the fermentation will decrase.
(c) pH: The pH is important enviournmental factor for the fermentation process. The yeast grows very well in acidic enviournment (4 - 4.5). But when the pH starts to increase after 4.5 the rate of fermentation starts to decrease.
