Create an experiment which would use a Chi-Squared for Goodness
of Fit test in order to examine a topic of either race or gender in
society.
What is your independent variable?
please help me with this assignment, but only if you're willing to do it and not copy and paste someone else's work. thank you in advance.
(a)
An experiment which would use a Chi-Squared for Goodness of Fit test in order to examine a topic of race in society.:
Suppose a committee 275 persons is formed with the following races:
White =205
Black = 26
Hispanic = 25
Others = 19
Total = 275
The population proportions are as follows:
White = 0.72
Black = 0.07
Hispanic = 0.12
Others = 0.09
Total = 1.00
Research Question: Is the committee properly represented by the races?
Test Statitic () is calculated as follows:
Race | Observed (O) | Expected (E) | (O - E)2/E |
White | 205 | 275 X 0.72 = 198 | 0.247 |
Black | 26 | 275 X 0.07 = 19.25 | 2.367 |
Hispanic | 25 | 275 X 0.12 = 33 | 1.939 |
Others | 19 | 275 X 0.09 = 24.75 | 1.336 |
Total = = | 5.89 |
Take = 0.05
df = 4- 1 = 3
From Table, critical value of = 7.815
Since calculated value of = 5.89 is less than critical value of = 7.815, the difference is not significant. Fail to reject null hypothesis.
Conclusion:
The data support the claim that the committee is properly represented by the races.
(b)
independent variable : race in society.
