Chapter 2 Learning Process
How can learning by doing be incorporated into the lecture method?
In this age, learning by doing is referred to as experiential learning. The focus here is that the learners should reflect on their on the experience that they have and they would gain an insight into the concepts by practical expertise. They could do this in four successive stages by active experimentation, by having a concrete experience with regard to a particular concept, by observations and reflecting on those observations as well as conceptualisation of a concept in an abstract manner. A studio or laboratory workshop could be identified or set up. Students require to be given hands on experience such that they would develop motor skills and they could understand the advantages as well as limitations of a concept. Children transfer from observing a phenomena to the abstract form by developing an understanding of the principles.
