How does Callahan describe "private killing "? Why would euthanasia be a form of private killing, and what, according to Callahan, is wrong with this act?
One of the most important criticisms of Callahan in his "private killing" is that it involves the doctor-patient privacy and confidentiality. This would mean that even if laws are enacted to regulate euthanasia, the privacy and confidentiality would prevent the doctors from providing any information. Secondly, doctors are supposed to protect lives and their medical ethics would prevent them from administering euthanasia. This would mean that it would lead to many doctors take-up this act of killing out of their professional ethics. Thus, euthanasia would lead to private killing which would lead to further social complications.
