Describe the tissue organization of leaves

Describe the tissue organization of leaves

Solutions

Expert Solution

On the top of the leaf , a waxy , noncellular layer is found which is called cuticle. The next layer under the cuticle is epidermis. In monocot plants , a specialized cell called bulliform cell is also found on epidermis and cuticle.

beneath the upper epidermis in dicot leaves a layer of columner cells is found which are responsible for most of the photosynthesis are called Palisada tissue.Beneath it , spongy round cells are found which are loosely packed and are called spongy mesophyll cells. In monocot leaves Palisada tissue is not found and only spongy mesophyll cells are found.

In centre of leaf the vascular tissue(Xylem and Phloem )are also found .

Beneath the spongy tissue lower epidermis is found where stomata are present.Next layer to it is cuticle again.
