1) SAT Test Required Scores The scores for males on the math portion of the SAT I test are normally distributed with a mean of 531 and a standard deviation of 114(based on data from the college board). If the college of Florida includes a minimum score 600 among its requirement what percentage of males do not satisfy that requirement?
2)Finding Percentage of fever temperatures Based on the sample results in Data Set 6 in Appendix B, assume that human body temperatures are normally distributed with a mean of 98.20°F and a standard deviation of 0.62°F . Bellevue Hospital in New York City uses 100.6°F as the lowest temperature considered to be a fever. What percentage of normal and healthy persons would be considered to have a fever? Does this percentage suggest that a cutoff of 100.6°F is appropriate?
3) finding percentage of Pepsi cans under 12oz can of regular Pepsi are labaled as containing 12 oz. Assume that the actual contents are normally distributed with a mean of 12.29oz and a Standard deviation of 0.09oz(based on data set 1 in appendix b) what percentage of cans obtain less than the 12oz printed on the label? are many consumers being cheated?
1)
2)
Yes it seems be correct cutoff because the probability that a healthy person has temeprature greater than 100.6 is very low.
3)
Only 0.0006 * 100 = 0.06% persons cheated. It is very low so it does not seem that company is cheated.
