Solutions

Expert Solution

The specific implementation strategy to ensure that an organization has both structural frame and human resources frame is ‘Reframing Change’. There are several barriers to change for both the frames in the organization. The implementation strategies are based on the level of the barriers to the change.

Barriers to change for a structural frame are loss of clarity and stability, confusion and chaos. Since the organization views employees as a mass of separate business groups such as marketing team, sales team, the employees resist change due to loss of clear cut communication and less stability of their positions. These issues lead to confusion and chaos. The implementation strategies are :

  • Communication between the different levels
  • Disseminate information to motivate employees
  • Modification of incentives and bonuses
  • Transparent priority setting practices

These implementation strategies will enable an organization to move towards human resources frame which views employees as a member of a large family. Each family member has their own strengths, weaknesses, needs and expectations. The organization needs to first assess the needs of the employees and develop a structure to effectively meet these needs. This is the basic concept of a human resources frame.

Barriers to change for a human resources frame are anxiety, uncertainty, feeling incompetent, urge to meet the needs, etc. The implementation strategies to reframe the organization to have both structural frame and human resources frame are

  • Adequate training to develop new skills
  • Psychological support by the organizational team
  • Task shifting to various structural frame positions
  • Adjustment of incentives to meet the desires and needs of the employees.

The above implementation strategies pave way for the organization to have human resources focus on their architectural framework.

Thus, reframing change in the organization teams with the focus on the employee needs would make the organization successful in handling people and tasks.
