Solutions

Expert Solution

ans.

The acidic soil means the increase level of acidity or H+ ion or lowering the pH.

The main causes are-

  • higher acidic rainfal or less basic nature of soil to neutralizes the acid rain .
    • routenly uses of nitrogenase fertilizers is the major causes that increases the soil acidity as they releases more Hydrogen ions concentration to the soil if not properly used.
    • crop cultivation and frequently uses of land for cultivation beside the proper cleaning fertilizers and crops.
    • industrial activities and modernisation, improper water treatment may causes the soil acidic.
    • micoorganism sometimes produces the acidic wastes that if not properly quenched or cleaned by basic medium causes acidic soils.

pons-

  • acidic nature in limited percentage beneficial for the plant cultivation.
  • neutralizes alkalinity due to fertilizers,
  • useful for the plant that grows in acidic nature well like berries etc.

cons of acidic soil-

  • metal toxicities such as aluminium manganses percentage in soil increase by lowering the pH of soil.
  • also other nutrients availabilty is reduce(Fe,N,K,P, S Ca, Mn percentage ) that may be harsh for the agriculture and natural organisms, plant nutrients etc.
  • may cause rock,decay.

Assessment 9.0: Soil Mechanics Produce a 300 word report which identifies the cause and effect of slips in embankments and cuttings and the affect it might have on safety of the line. The report should include the theory behind soil mechanics – soil saturation, subsidence, inappropriate mineral extraction, overloading of embankment by neighbouring construction and subterranean fires. Include a range of potential solutions to embankment stability risks. Would prefer in Text as don't understand the handwriting on here.
