What does the added S2O32– ion react with and why does this cause the solution to become colorless? Briefly explain

Solutions

Expert Solution

when S2O2(2-) is added in iodine in presence of starch, solution becomes colourless.

Because, iodine react with S2O2(2-) to form iodide which is colourless in that solution. As a result solution becomes colourless. Detail reaction is given above.
