A batter hits the baseball A with an initial velocity of v0 = 97 ft/sec directly toward fielder B at an angle of 40° to the horizontal; the initial position of the ball is 2.0 ft above ground level. Fielder B requires 0.23 sec to judge where the ball should be caught and begins moving to that position with constant speed. Because of great experience, fielder B chooses his running speed so that he arrives at the “catch position” simultaneously with the baseball. Fielder B starts 234 ft from the batter. The catch position is the field location at which the ball altitude is 6.3 ft. Determine the velocity of the ball relative to the fielder at the instant the catch is made. Assume that the time needed for the fielder to achieve his velocity from the start point is negligibly small. Please state answer for time at catch postion as well

The baseball diamond at Grayson Stadium is a square with 90 ft sides. A batter hits the ball and runs to the right toward first base with a constant speed of 24 ft/s. At the same time a runner on 3rd base runs home at a constant speed of 28 ft/s. At what rate is the distance between the two runners changing two seconds after they start running?

Ted Williams hits a baseball with an initial velocity of 120 miles per hour (176 ft/s) at an angle θ = 35o to the horizontal. The ball is struck 3 feet above home plate.   A ball is thrown upward with an initial velocity of 32 ft/sec from a tower 48 feet above ground. Assume that the only force affecting the ball during travel is from gravity, which produces downward acceleration of 32 ft/sec^2. Then The maximum height reached by the ball is: ____________________ The ball hits the ground at time t; _____________________

You will now calculate the initial velocity, v0 , required to launch a ball to a horizontal distance, d , if the ball is launched purely horizontally from a height h above the top of the table. First draw a diagram of the situation. Clearly label h , d , v0 , and the point you select as your origin. Use 1-D kinematics to determine the time it would take the ball to fall if you simply released it from...
