Case Study Design and Analysis
Create a fictional case study using these terms
Persuasion
(may not be related to actual individuals).
You will use the following guidelines while writing your case study:
Background: You need to describe the demographics of individuals involved in the case study such as their age, gender, occupation, education, relationships, and family history.
The case story: You need to describe a scenario using third person in which individuals have joined a nonreligious cult or group prescribing self-destructive behaviors.
Analysis of the case: You need to utilize the information learned from the online lectures and text readings to analyze the case study. Be specific in your analysis using supporting evidence from outside sources when needed.
Recommendations: You need to end the case study with your recommendations or suggestions you would have implemented in such a situation to assist in changing the behavior of the individuals involved in the case study.
The case study is about a person X who is addicted to cough syrup.
X is a regular guy who has done Master's in degree and works in an organization. His marriage was decided by his parents, which is common in his place. Addiction does not run in his family. To say more, they prefer to stay away from any sort of addiction for religious reasons.
X, unfortunately was misguided by his friends. He was urged to drinking with them in bars. It was hard for him to resist. He quit it finally after regular fights with his wife. After several months, his wife started noticing new bottle of cough syrup each day. Curious, she came to know that away from beer, X found his pleasure in the cough syrups. He once gulped a whole bottle to notice its addictive alcohol properties and from thereon drinks multiple bottles per day. This time, his wife's fights were of no use. He was sent to a rehabilitation center.
Cough syrups has varying levels of alcohol and is consumed as per doctor's advice. Consuming more of it gave him the high od alcohol and with time the amount increased to maintain the pleasure.
Changing the behaviour of an addicted person cannot happen drastically. It's good that he is already in the rehabilitation center. I would suggest him to consult a doctor for medicine for speedy recovery. I would also advice his wife and family to be supportive in this issue and encourage them for more family time to give him attention for different things.
