(Answer) Sociological Imagination is a simple concept where one would consider a personal thought or action and try to equate it to a perspective on a sociological level. For instance, when one was to iron a crisp white shirt to wear at the office, it is a personal activity. However, with sociological imagination, it can be implied that this is done to present a good image at the workplace and appear a bit foppish for a certain type of acceptance in the society.
The video “The Danger of the Single Story”, talks similarly about the importance of perspective. If we were in an argument, we would easily assume that we are almost always infallible. However, when we look at the argument from the point of view of the opposition or society as a whole, we become enlightened to a different perspective. This is when sociological imagination deepens our understanding of the society around us. When this understanding of society deepens, one would be able to comprehend their own mind on a deeper level.
“The Danger of the Single Story”, is a film that bears the eponymous argument of how dangerous it can be to consider just one side of a story. It would degrade a situation and possible spread over time to degrade an entire society.
