Andrew Jackson became the President of United States of America in 1828 and holded this post till 1837. This time of Jackson's presidency came to be know as Jacksonian Era because of it's influence on the history of U.S.A. Andrew Jackson belonged to humble backgrounds and he addressed himself as common man and understood the problems of common white men. During his tenure he made many reforms regarding farming and mechanic advancements, and in banking sectors. He made the reach of common man to banks possible. He ensured that banks benefited common man too, other than it's wealthy customers. He also gave common man political rights by increasing number of offices that would be directly elected by the people. Thus, he made the office of president more powerful than any of predecessors and fulfilled his promises to common white men.
Andrew Jackson ensured political and economic rights of common white males to the best of interest as he could. But when it came to the political and economic rights of non-whites of his country he was more a tyrannt. He made native Americans to give up their lands and displaced them . He supported slavery system and did nothing for the improvement of the lives of Afro-American slaves. He considered women to be subjects under men and hence, them also. Thus, was he contradictions of freedom.
Still it was Jacksonian era that gave America it's pace of development and prosperity by the reforms that were brought in political and economic sphere. And also this era is witness to atrocities against the native American and Afro-Americans.
