Defend or criticize the statement “There is a gene for every behavior” ?
It is a debating issue. In many cases it is observed that gene plays a major role in determining the behaviour of an organism. In most of the cases where gene controls a behaviour, it is actually a combination of various genes which controls a behaviour. Thus a behaviour is often considered as an polygenic outcome. Eachgene involved in behaviour development contributes a little bit and cumulative effects are responsible for the behaviour expressed. many behavioural activities have been found to be heritable. Scientists have influential role of genes for various psychological factors known as 'the big five' personality traits - These are extraversion, neuroticism, agreeableness, conscientiousness, and openness to experience. But many researchers demonstrated that environment is the key player for determining the behaviour of an organism. To my opinion gene and environment both have roles in shaping a particular behaviour.
