Apart from the 21 cents of every dollar that Universities spend on the student instruction including scholarships, the Universities/colleges have a lot to spend on from the rest of 71 cents.

Here’s how-

1. Faculty Salary: According to a research of 2013, total cost of the salaries that are provided to the faculties of US universities are $40 Million. The teachers have to be satisfied in order to have student’s best results. This is not the area where a College would compromise.

2. Infrastructure: The Universities have to maintain their infrastructure on a regular basis to stay updated. It doesn’t include only the classrooms but also Library, reading halls, playground and washrooms also.

3. Extra curricular: The colleges spend a lot on the extracurricular activities that are organized in and outside of the college. This includes sports mainly. The money is spent on advertising such campaigns. This is generally on higher levels with other universities and colleges. This includes high costs which colleges perform in order to achieve the year’s rankings.

Almost all the benefits are Tangible benefits. We see it very frequently. Any expenditure incurred on infrastructure of the college campus is seen on a regular basis. Plantation of trees can be seen also. Development of sports that colleges spend money on is frequently seen because that is what the colleges care about. Rankings of such colleges are decided on the basis of such activities presence. It’s no big a deal. These institutions are regulated by the state or central level and are here for our benefits only.
