I have to write teaching philosophy as a physics tutor. It must be around 100-150 words.Kindly provide response.
My goal as a teacher is to approach learning from the student's perspective. The memories of struggling with learning difficult concepts are still fresh in my mind.
I have found that it is important for all teachers, at all levels to be well prepared for class with well-thought out lesson plans and materials. Successful teachers make objectives clear and break down concepts into pieces with strike a balance between being small enough to digest, yet contain enough substance to remain interesting. It is crucial to attain constant feedback and evidence of understanding via traditional assessment methods as well as informal evaluation.
Some of the practices I have been experimenting with are "weekly quizzes" in discussion sessions in the undergraduate classes, "Reward Points" for interactive participation in discussion during lectures.
I try stimulating curiosity and interest of students for current research topics. Also I try to introduce the students to the practice of doing scientific research. So far these methods have helped students to learn in a better way and giving good results.
