C3 deficiencies are typically lethal but C8 deficiencies are survivable. How are individuals with a C8 deficiency able to fight many types of infection?
C8 deficiency is a disorder caused the immune system to malfunction resulting In a form of immunodeficiency. Immunodeficiencies are condition in which the immune system is not able to protect the body effectively from foreign invader such as bacteria.
People with complement component 8 deficiency have a significantly increased risk of recurrent bacterial infections, particularly by a bacterium called neisseria meningitis is. Infection causes by this bacteria on membrane surroundings in brain and spinal cord.
Individual with complement component 8 deficiency are less likely to die from the infection than people in the general population who contract it.
***The terminal complement pathway comprise five protien which become combined together to form the membrane attack complex( MAC).This is the major effector mechanism of humoral immunity. The Mac canot form if any of components are absent and affected patients have liability to bacterial infections including neisseria meningitidis infection.
