explain how the magnetic field enables the three phenomena below

magnetic field

1 low oxygen concentration

2 reducing impurity

3 maintaining stability of melt surface for dislocation free growth

Solutions

Expert Solution

Why do we use magnetic field on the surface ? To reduce the vibration of the surface, magnetic field is applied. It is of utmost importance to reduce the vibrations because it can give rise to dislocations.

At high temperature, oxygen is formed from the silica component. This oxygen will mix with the melt substance and will make it oxygen rich which we don't want. With high orxygen content, the temperature will vary and this can affect the crystal growth without dislocation. That's why magnetic field is apllied to limit the oxygen level.

Now, talking about reducing impurity, we know that applied magnetic field will attract impurities likes Iron, nickel etc . There are so many impurities present in the material. That's why magnetic field is applied to remove those impurities.

Magnetic field provides stability to the material by preventing it from vibrating. As we know that melt surface will vibrate, therefore we must apply magnetic field to make the melt stable and to prevent dislocations.
