Political campaigns are advertising strategies adopted by political party representatives to make people aware of the strengths of the party and the candidates. In hindsight, it aims to influence voters to vote for a particular party.
Banning political advertising one week before an election does not make much difference to the decision made by the voters based on media, social media campaigns run by the political parties throughout. Even if we ban the advertising a week before the aggressive advertising by political parties, consultants and other stakeholders will be done before that week, eventually leading to no difference. Moreover, if the television and print media is banned, some PR campaigns can be run on social media platforms. So, instead of banning the advertising, the media and social media channels should monitor the content of these campaigns and not let these parties spread false news, hate news and rumours that will harm the peace and harmony of the society.
