You are tasked with conducting an inheritance study on a species of daisy. While they are the same species, some daisies are yellow (YY) while the others are white (yy). Using concepts derived from Mendelian Inheritance, come up with a hypothesis and prediction on what the offspring will “look” like in the F1and F2 generations if there is complete dominance for color. Justify your predictions
ANSWER :-
Mendel's particular the inheritance hypothesis, his hypothesis tells the dominant traits, recessive traits, factors or alleles, monohybrid and dihybrid crosses etc.
When an task was conducted on inheritance on the species of daisy. Some species are of yellow colour (YY) and some are of white colour (yy). According to the concept derived by Mendel's from Mendelian inheritance, the YY is dominant colour (yellow) over the yy recessive colour (white).
So ,the hypothesis say that in complete dominance, the F1 generation is purely hybrid and the offsprings in F1 generation is of yellow colour. The F2 generation show differ phenotype, the recessive allele show its character and the phenotypic ratio appears to be 3:1, and genotypic ratio seems as 1:2:1. So, the complete dominance appear in F1 generation offsprings as all the offspring are of yellow colour, but in F2 generation offsprings, 75% of offsprings are of yellow colour while 25 % are of white colour. No blending of colour takes place in complete dominance.
