5.a) For a crayfish where is the nerve cord located in
the crayfish? Where is the brain located in
the crayfish? It is composed of paired ganglia. What is a ganglion?
What are
the nerves called that go around the esophagus?
5.bFor a crawfish name the paired glands that function in excretion
in the crayfish. Give both
names. Where are they located? How do they function?
5a. The nerve cord of cray fish is ventrally located. Nervous system of cray fish is ladder like structure and it is located on the ventral side of the body. The anterior most ganglion is called the brain or most appropriately 'microbrain. The cerebral ganglia is the brain of crayfish.
Ganglion is a structure found in nervous system . A ganglion is a group or collection of nerve cell bodies.. In invertebrate many ganglions are found in the nerve chord from which various nerve exits and the ganglions are remain connected with each other by connective or commissures.
The nerve that goes around the esophagous is called circumesophageal nerve.
5b. The paired glands which help in excretion of crayfish is called Green gland. The other names of green gland are antennal gland or maxillary gland. They are located at the base of second antennae of crayfish. They absorb nitrogenous waste products from blood and then the waste products are excreted through a pore which is located in front of mouth of crayfish.
