Answer all three
1. How do you distinguish between an animal that is not cephalized from one that is cephalized?
2. The term for molting is ecdysis. What are the two animal phyla that need to molt in order to grow larger? How do they use their coverings to their advantage?
3. Under proper conditions, a leopard frog can jump over 10X its body length! Imagine our frog jumped 155 cm. How many meters is that? How many meters could you jump if you could leap like a frog?
?
1.An animals which is not cephalized will have a body with no posterior and anterior ends. They do not possess a distinct head and mostly are radially symmetrical while animals that are cephalised possess a body with distinct anterior and posterior end with a distinct head at the anterior end and will be bilaterally symmetrical.
.2.The two phyla that need to molt in orderr to grow larger are:
Both arthropods and nematodes possess a thick and flexible exoskeleton known as cuticle that acts as a protective shield to protect the animals from water loss, predators and other harmful environmental conditions. As they begin their growth phase, grow, they shed their cuticle by the process of molting so that addition of more minerals to the existing skeleton can take place that in turn helps the animals to grow. After this,a new cuticle is formed again till they reach their next growth phase.
3. The frog jumped 155cm
That equals to 155 /100 m = 1.55 m
The frog jumps over 10X its body length
Say, my height is 5 feet , I will need to jump 5*10 = 50 feet in one leap = 15.24 meters.
