Institutionalization has been defined as a social process through which individuals create a shared definition of what is appropriate or meaningful behaviour. As such, elaborate on a) how this notion could be considered as a barrier to organizational change, and b) how (if at all) any organization can break this barrier.
institutionalization is the social process based on which the
structure of the group of various individuals are merged as one to
create an atmosphere that represents their behavior and gives an
idea of the culture to see what is needed and what is not needed.
The culture thus created suggests what is applicable in the group
and what is not which being practiced is the organizational
behavior that the person gets entangled with it and becomes
specified with such ideas.
a. The barrier to the organizational culture is an aspect that this
gives which makes the people in the organization be molded into a
process that they are acquainted with and get a sense of being the
way they are. The changes to such are or may be perceived as a
threat due to the conditions post-change is unknown by the workers.
These institutions may have some difficulty adapting to the changes
and are considered a barrier to the organization during the time of
need for such changes.
b. The changes are part of the business as the times get in new
technology or competition or new ideas which make the change for
the business mandatory to be effective and sustain the changing
social and economic conditions. The business has to develop an
institutionalization that is not opaque and gives all talents the
change to project their skills. The training and development and
continuous changes in the processes with time keep the people open
to changes in the business. This keeps the culture of changing with
time adaptable and open for the employees to be changing with time.
The clarity of communications, the need for the change, and the
necessity of it along with the post changed environmental knowledge
communication breaks the barriers for the people not willing to
deal with changes.
