Discuss three of the dangers associated with outsourcing an EA Practice?

Solutions

Expert Solution

Three main dangers associated with EA practice being outsourced:

1. The trust issues:

Outsourcing EA practice can be a good idea for the company but there are always trust issues involved with someone who is miles away from the company. It requires proper search of the maturity of the company who is outsourcing, their time growth in the market, and number of projects handled by them so far.

2. Control issues:

When a service is outsourced, the control is with the technology partner. These third parties can sometimes lack experience in the controlling department. Especially when the current organization has no IT infrastructure to support EA practice, they have to rely on third-party expertise. This works for certain businesses and not all. Because if there is no clear communication, there are always chances of mismanagement of controls on the service.

3. Falsified standards:

There are chances that third party outsourcing the EA practice may have false standards pertaining to quality of service. Organizations can avoid such traps but it requires diligence and cross-checking. If the vendor's reputation is self-proclaimed, it is important to check for their successful deliveries and market share. Their data centers should be given consideration too. It will help in understanding the quality of server uptime.
