So my company wants our employees to install Teramind in their personal computers during the pandemic because bosses are worried that our team will slack off. and I received the email from our manager today about it. Now being the senior team leader, I just need help writing the first paragraph, which will be a buffer for the rest of my email to the manager convincing him to not use Teramind so he can message the superiors. Buffer basically means that its the first defence against toxic messaging. [t is a meaningful, neutral statement that establishes rapport with the reader without forecasting the bad news. It reduces the surprise a reader might otherwise experience upon suddenly learning unpleasant news. With its conciliatory tone, the buffer puts the reader in a more agreeable frame of mind, helping to neutralize the bad news when it is finally revealed. A buffer can be an expression of agreement, appreciation, or general principle or a chronology of past communications. An effective buffer never misleads the reader into thinking that positive news will follow. Instead, it guides the reader toward the explanation, often by planting a keyword that carries over to the next paragraph. Internal messages on routine matters may not require buffers, but messages intended for superiors, customers, or job applicants benefit from the sensitivity this device helps to show. One thing you can also mention smoothly in the buffer for this situation is that employee output has been the same as before the pandemic too (eg: code, documentation etc)

Am posting a sample buffer. You can add your own reason for not using the softwware. Hope this might help you to give an idea.

Dear Manager

I have gone through the mail regarding teramind installation. However i dont think it is economical and convienient at this situation. The pandemic had already hit the company very bad financially. The cost for purchasing and installation of softwares on remote computers of employees will be huge for us. Also it might require additional labour hour to teach and explain the installation and user guide of the software to each employees.

So it is better we avoid the installation of the software and lets hope for the best and trust our employees regarding their work and efforts at home as well. Afterall we have seen their potential and efforts. So we can continue trusting them and avoid this installation. Hope you have understood the issue and do the necessary actions regarding this and convey to seniors.

Regards

Team Leader
