. Let’s imagine that we are studying only one trait, that of green- or yellow-colored seeds. Mendel bred his peas until they either produced seeds of one color or the other. These purebred plants he called the p generation (“p” for parental generation). He then cross bred green plants with yellow ones and discovered that all the offspring were yellow-colored. Mendel called the offspring of the purebred plants the F1 generation.
In your own words, explain why all the offspring in the F1 generation were yellow instead of half being yellow and half green, or some other mix of the colors. Hint: Remember that Mendel coined the terms dominant and recessive. must be 75 words
The mendelian inheritance is based on the factors which are transferred from parents to the offspring. When the true bred parents are crossed say (tall and dwarf pea plants then the offspring F1 generation has one of the trait.amd are all tall The trait which is expressed in F1 generation and masks the expression of the other is called dominant and the other whose expression is being masked is called recessive. There is no blending or appearance of intermediate phenotype.Similarly there is case of yellow and green pea seeds in which F1 generation offspring showed yellow coloured seeds. The information that carry the seed colour or the height of the peas plant is controlled by genes which are present in alternative forms called as alleles that are given from parents to the offspring.for eg YY x yy(homozygotes) yellow colured seeds with green colour seeds. gametes are produced by meiosis the gametes are Y and y respectively which are fused to form the F1 filial generation Yy(heterozygote) and resembled the yellow parent phenotypically.
