Expert Solution

Based on the given values we can predict that the given Ionisation energies are for ALUMINIUM because it has 13 electrons filled as 1s2, 2s2, 2p6, 3s2, 3p1. removal of 1st electron is easy so that it attains completely filed orbital. similarly reomval of next two electrons is also easy but as that of 3p1 electron. after removal of 3electrons it has 10 electrons and has octet configuration. now removal of 4th electron require very high energy that can be clearly seen in the given values.

meanwhile in other cases such as Sulphur the removal of 6th and 7th electron should have a massive difference but it is not the given values. Even in Magnesium the removal of second(attains octet configuration) and third electron should have high difference hence it is not the values of Magnesium. also in chlorine the removal of 2nd electron and 3rd electron difference must be high since removal of 2electron causes half filled p orbital which gives stability even this is not observed.

Based on above observations we can conclude the given values are for ALUMINIUM.
