For which experiment will you create a standard curve, using absorbancy, or a pre-defined scale?
a.Benedic'ts test
b.Iodine test
c.Biuret test
d.Sudan test
The correct answer is - C. BIURET TEST
Explanation- Biuret test is the test for the proteins. This test can be done both for the qualitative and quantitative analysis of proteins. When performing the quantitative analysis of protein in a solution/sample, there is a need for the creation of a standard curve. This standard curve is prepared by performing the biurets test on a series of protein-containing samples of known quantities. The curve is plotted with the absorbance on the X-axis and the Protein concentration on the Y-axis. After plotting the curve, the OD value that is obtained from the TEST SAMPLE(UNKNOWN ) is plotted and thus from that curve, the amount of protein in that unknown sample can be determined.
Why not others--
All of the--Iodine test(for polysaccharide), Sudan test(for lipids) and benedicts(for carbohydrates) test are QUALITATIVE TESTS..and they do not require the drawing of a standard curve.
