The Zimmerman Telegram played an important role by asking the Mexican president through the German Minister who acted as an mediator between Germany and Japan and the motive was to bring Japan into the theoritical war with the United States. Later the result was Japan was not interested in the same and it was stated through a statement released by them.

This telegram was one of the reasons for America's decision to enter World War I. Germany had the fear somewhere that U.S will enter into the war and back the Britain and France and they will be left alone. So they decided to take Mexico on their side to get some strength in the war. And this offer was sent though German Ambassador to Mexico Arthur Zimmerman. In this telegram Germany proposed an alliance with MExico if America decided to enter into the war. They also provided financial aid to Mexico and support in the Mexican war in order to get back the terriroties lost in the first Mexican - Ameircan war. It also asked Mexico to help negotiate peace between Germany and Japan so that Japanese also could be brought into war against America and Britain.
