Provide your opinion on the book “Hooked: Pirates, Poaching, and the Perfect Fish”
The book "Hooked: Pirates, Poaching, and the Perfect Fish" shows how the fish merchant discovered a fish in California and renamed it. He kicked off the craze for the fish that no one knew about but had to have. The book was written by Author G. Bruce Knecht.
The book tells us about the poaching of the toothfish (Patagonian) which is also known as "Chilean Sea Bass" commercially and by the Americans through a single boat which gained attention from the international media. The book talks about the illegal fishing vessel and the chase of the illegal fishing vessel that continued for weeks through bad weather and under difficult conditions.
The author shows us that we hardly know anything about the fish that we eat. It can be concluded from the book that professions like management of fishery are getting co-opted with commercial interests. The fisheries experts presided over this mismanagement and the menace of species that were wiped out by not noticing this menace and by not trying to address the same. The greed of man is never ending and at any cost to the extent of making the fish an endangered species.
