Question : can humans survive with damage on their cell membrane ?

Answer : Cell membrane damage results in loss of osmotic balance and influx of fluids and ions, as well as loss of proteins, enzymes, coenzymes, and ribonucleic acids. The cells may also leak metabolites, which are vital for the reconstitution of ATP, thus further depleting net intracellular high-energy phosphates.

Cells are generally soft, squishy, and easily damaged. However, many can repair themselves after being punctured, torn, or even ripped in half when damaged due to the normal wear-and-tear of normal physiology or as a result of injury or pathology.Cells have the ability to heal themselves, as well as make new cells that replace those that have been permanently damaged or destroyed. Even when a large number of cells are destroyed — the surrounding cells replicate to make new cells, thereby quickly replacing the cells that were destroyed.

But in case of permanent damage of cell membrane,which cause necrosis. It is characterised by cytoplasmic swelling, irreversible damage to the plasma membrane, and organelle breakdown leading to cell death.the result can be tissue or organ failure, ultimately leading to death of the organism.

So in simple, human beings can't survive a lot with permenent damage of the cell membrane because it will causes the death of cells which leads to organ failure and its complications and ultimately causes death.
