1. Identify and describe the four domains of Axiomatic Design

2. Why would we use Axiomatic Design or Quality Function Deployment in the design of a process and simulation model?

3. Why do we flowchart processes prior to simulation?

Solutions

Expert Solution

Four domains of Axiomatic design:

1) Customer domain

2) Functional domain

3) Physical domain

4) Process domain

1) Customer domain:

Customer domain is associated with customer requirements and expectations on the product. They address all the customer queries and help us understand the product better.

2) Functional domain:

It deals with the properties of materials and functional requirements that the product gonna have it.

3) Physical domain:

It deals with the physical variables of the product such as dimensions etc to satisfy the functional requirements.

4) Process domain:

It deals with the various process variables that can control design parameters.

2)

It helps us have understood the customer requirements, effectively control the parameters, quality of the product, reduces the waste. It is obviously good if we use Axiomatic design prior to a process and simulation model.

3)

Flow charts help us understand the whole process in a simple way. We can also calculate the timings, allocates resources and have a close look at operations that are gonna take place on a product.
