Identify and give the significance of the BNA Act.
please write lengthy answer and sorry this is the question of history but there is no option of history that's why I choose economics.
BNA Act i.e. British North America Act,which now is known as constitution Act. It was enacted on 29th March 1867 but came into effect from 1st of july in the same year. It is the foundation of Canadian Constitution. It defines the govt. Structure and the shared power & responsibility of parliament and provincial legislature.
For eg. - Sec 91 provides parliament jurisdiction for postal system, criminal law, banking, interest, armed forces.
And sec 92 provides province jurisdiction for businesses , local works, property, and most of the contracts.
It facilitates the confederation of three out of five British North American Colonies into a united state with a parliamentary System. Those 3 colonies were New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, and the province of Canada.
2 territories and 6 provinces have been added.
This act is not complete in itself . It is supported by canadian & British statue.
