What are the advantages of bonded hard magnets versus nearly fully-dense hard magnet compacts?
#Bonded magnets are a diverse and versatile contributor to the portfolio of hard magnet materials available to device designers.
It is believed that hard magnets have been used for compasses by
the Chinese since
~2500BC. However, it was only in the early twentieth century that
high carbon steels and then
tungsten / chromium containing steels replaced lodestone as the
best available permanent
magnet material.
The main advantage of hard magnet is that they are extremely low cost, due to the ease of processing and the low cost of raw materials, which makes them the most widely used hard magnet material.
