Market Segmentation is the process of dividing the total target market into groups of customers who have common needs and wants and designing strategies to target those customers and to implement those strategies.

  1. Geographic : Market segmentation based on geographic factors considers that in any country, any region or any climate there will be people who have pets. Thus the company finds a market place in every countries.
  2. Demographic : While considering demographic factors, PetSmart considers that the people keeps pets irrespective of age, gender, family, occupation, income, education, race etc
  3. Psychographic : This factor considers lifestyle, society, personal characteristics etc to segment the market. For any factors there will be pets.
  4. Behavioural : Behavioural factors considers the behaviour of the customers towards the products. Such factors are attitude of customers, knowledge of customers, responses towards the product etc. PetSmart includes all the people who love the pets under this category.
