You have been collaborating with a colleague in writing a report, the final version of which is due in three days. You have completed your part of the report by yesterday's draft deadline you both agreed to, but you've received nothing from your colleague. You send him an email asking when you will get his work and CC (copy) the message to your manager. What is the most likely secondary purposeof your message?
Question options:
to let your boss know that your colleague hasn't done what he promised |
|
to find out what difficulties your colleague is having with his portion of the project |
|
to present a revised work schedule |
|
to find out when you can expect your colleague's part of the report |
to find out what difficulties your colleague is having with his portion of the project.
If you choose option one and let your boss know that your colleague hasn't done what he promised maybe it will leave a bad impression of yours on your colleague and even in front of other people working in that organisation as they may call you a backbitter or something else. The best thing you can do is ask your colleague what problem he is facing and what are the reasons for the delay in the project and if you feel that those reasons are genuine you can help him out in finish his part as the report is going to benefit you both . When you were asked to do group work you should always think from both positive and negative aspects and the positive aspects should always come first , negative aspects should only be chosen when there are no choices left . If after knowing the reasons you feel like your colleague just don't want to complete the report and trying to escape you can choose the first option.
If you feel like the answer is not satisfactory let me know and i will edit the answer , please leave a like if i helped in solving your problem . Thanks :)
