Our planets surface is currently covered with 71% water and 29% land. What if the ratio was switched to 29% water and 71% land? Provide 2 examples of how the decrease in surfsce water would affect living conditions on planet earth.

If percentage covered by land and water are interchanged then following conditions occurs on earth:-

1. Amount of oxygen on earth decrease because major oxygen of our atmosphere comes from marine plants and due to less water less plants will be there.

2. Water is a major life support of various organism .if water will be less then organism rate of extinction becomes high.

3. Water absorbs heat without increasing temperature and due to less water , temperature of our atmosphere will increase.

High temperature,low oxygen will cause the extinction of many organism and present scenario will be changed,type of organism found on earth will change.

Two examples of affect of decrease in surface water:-

1. In living organisms ,water play a number of roles such as solvent, fluids, temperature buffer.metabolite etc .due to decrease in surface water these functions of water will be disturbed.

2. Decreased in surface water leads to increase in atmospheric temperature which greatly affect the life of many living organisms.
