The prehistoric period is defined as that time period on earth of which any records of human activity are unavailable,we simply believe on the basis of history of evolution of human beings on earth. It is time period that roughly dates from 2.5 million years ago to 1200b.c. The prehistoric period is broadly divided into 3 ages :

1.stone age: evolved around 300000 b.c when the humans were living with many of the non extinct species that don't exist today. With the changing climatic conditions, as the temperature of earth increased the species started extinct from earth. The end of this period is also called end of ice age.The things that they inherited to today's world include shifting from hunters mode to agricultural mode, domesticated animals ,used polished hand axes ,home construction and art including pottery, sewing and weaving.

2.bronze age:It depicts time period about 3000b.c to 1300b.c .This age included advancement such as bronze, copper and tin alloys were developed, spark innovations, advancement in textiles ,more villages and cities began to form.Most importantlu, organized government, law and warfare as well as beginning of religion began in bronze age., Evidences came from the great Egyptian pyramids.

3.iron age: roughly the time period 1300 b.c to 900b.c. it is time when the ways to heat and forge iron developed.This time saw advancement in architecture, with 4 room homes, hill forts etc, early citu planning, writing system and written documents including alphabets began to develop. And the end turned to early historical period.

All these informatioms are though not on written records as this was the time in the end when the writing came into being but evidences help us to know about how and the ways how our activities got evolved with time. It help us to know how we turned to present civilized man from early men, it helps us to know how clothers , architecture, art and culture, pots pans , weapons etc came into being.By joining piece by piece and putting al facts and figures together we could understand how is the rich narrative of distinct past.In short, the study of pre historic period helped to understand how the change in ecosystem occur in response to ever changing earth temperature. Apart from this , the study of this time also help us in dealing with present day problems of over population, global warming, rapid degradation by studying how the eco system reacted in the past when such evolution were occurring.
