For writing the letter to the U.S. or state house of represenrative, you should keep the following points in your mind:

1.Three Paragraph letter should be drafted.

2. IDENTIFY YOURSELF

Who are you and what is the issue you are writing about, start off by introducing yourself(indicate that you are a constiuent)

2.What are your points of concern?

Use a 'hook' and then explain the problem. The hook should be a short statements that engages the reader usually featuring an interesting fact.

3.Why does this issue matter to the US or Texas state?

Give the decision maker reasons to support the issue.Look beyond the obvious reasons.

4.What are your recommendations for action?

Ask for something specific usually in the form of a request to support a specific issue.

5.Keep it simple

Your letter should address only one issue and should identify the subject in the first paragraph.Be factual not emotional. Provide specific information. The most effective letters are no longer than one page in length.
