The following questions relate to the acid-base neutralization of HCl and NaOH
HCl (aq) + NaOH (aq) → NaCl (aq) + H2O (l)
a. A 25.00 mL sample of HCl is titrated with 0.1045 M NaOH using phenolphthalein as an indicator. The buret containing NaOH initially reads 0.30 mL and reads 48.29 mL at the end point. Determine the concentration of the HCl solution in mol/L. Show ALL work.
b. If 50.0 mL of 0.500 M HCl at 25.0°C is added to 50.0 mL of 0.500 M NaOH at 25.0°C in a coffee cup calorimeter, the temperature of the mixture rises to 28.2°C. What is the heat of reaction per mole of acid? (Assume the mixture has a specific heat capacity of 4.18 J/(g·K) and that the densities of the reactant solutions are both 1.00 g/mL). Show ALL work.
I have answered these questions and upload as images.
a. Concentration of HCl is 0.2005 mole/L
b. Heat of reaction of per mole acid is -53.504 KJ/mole
