2. Define a process for finding a job. For what types of
endeavor does a well-defined
process enhance performance?
Job search-
(1) Job platforms - Register on various job platforms and start applying against the job vacancies that meets your skill set or that interests in. It does not always have to align with your educational qualification but it can be anything that you wish to pursue. Many a times a person moving ahead with the education acquired is not satisfied with the work. So you need to be very clear about your area of interest and gain skills into that.
(2) Utilize your networks - Everybody has a network so you just ask them if they have any vacancies in their company and that you are looking for a job so thay can drop down your resume in their company and hopefully you can be employed against a vacancy.
(3) Classifieds - Read classifieds everyday or weekly and apply for the job if it interests you. A lot of job are posted these days on classifieds on a local basis. You just have to look for the relevant job and appear for the interview.
(4) Don't lose hope - Keep trying and trying and trying. You may fail in the beginning but with a new day make a new start and come back strong.
(5) Work on your skills and be aware of the latest technological advancements in your field and be aware of the qualities that employers seek for in a candidate. Develop your conversational skills.
Employers these days are very cautious before employing a candidate for a particular job role. They need a certain skill set in a candidate so that there would be a minimum time wasted on training of a candidate and the company can focus on other productive work.
Following are the points to remember before appearing for the interview-
(1) Prepare a well stated resume that provides relevant information to the employer about your career goals, educational background, grades, work experience and skills, summer internship taken etc. The resume have to be very specific highlighting only the important points.
(2) You need to dress professionally. It gives the employer an idea that you might be serious in grabbing this oppurtinity. If you look good you feel confident too.
(3) Identify your strengths and weaknesses because these are the things that the employer need to be aware of so he can make a better decision. You can expect this question in almost every professional interview.
(4) You need to be good at negotiating with the salary part. An employer may wants to hire you at a minimum possible salary, you need to know about the market trends and present facts and figures and raise your value. You can also highlight your experience or particular skills and how it can be benefitial for the company.
(5) Apart from the subjective knowledge you need to be aware about the latest advancements in your field of education. These things can be asked as it can give the employer an idea of how much you are interested in this field.
