How is the short cut method (S.C.M) / deviation method for arithmetic mean applied in case of continuous class distribution?
For the determination of arithmetic mean in case of continuous class distribution by short cut method (S.C.M), here also we take an arbitrary value in x i.e. Assumed value (A).
Also,
In continuous class distribution, there is a statistic of class width. Let's say given class width is h.
We proceed with S.C.M / deviation method as follows:
Thus, the required mean by short cut method (S.C.M) / Deviation method is:
x̅ = A + h= A + 1/N (∑fidi) . h
Short cut method (S.C.M) formula for arithmetic mean in case of continuous class distribution is:
x̅ = A + h= A + 1/N (∑fidi) . h
