I want to work in Concrete Durability research Group.I want to work in this group because it is an internationally leading research group specializing in all aspects of concrete degradation.The group aims to advance current understanding of deterioration process like reinforcement corrosion,sulphate attack,alkali silica reaction and to develop more effective methods of design,assessment and repair of concrete structures.The group is always looking to develop novel approaches to enhance structural durability and many of it's research findings have been used to solve industrial problems.The concrete durability group is ideally positioned to meet the challenges positioned by bringing together people with scientific backgrounds with state of the art research facilities.

Description :-

Most of the worlds infrastructure is built from concrete.The premature deterioration of concrete structures is a major global problem with estimated repair costs.The concrete durability group develop more effective methods for use in the durability design,service life and repair of concrete structures.The most commonly deterioration process involves chemical reactions.The rate of degradation is controlled by the mobility of iconic and molecular species within the concrete.The resulting micro structural changes degrade the physical properties of concrete and reduce the corrosion protection it provides to the embedded reinforcement.Reinforcement corrosion leads to concrete cracking and spalling and ultimately to structural failure.
