2. Describe the mechanism by which muscle tissue uses branched-chain amino acids as fuel and passes the nitrogen from these amino acids to liver tissue to be converted to urea.

The branched chain amino acids are not directly metabolised in liver but are first catabolized in muscles through BCAT enzyme to branched chain keto acids. These keto acids are further catabolized by branched chain keto acid dehydrogenase to coenzymeA and is further processed through TCA (Tricarboxylic acid) cycle and to acetyl coenzyme A.
